this book had been in the works for about six months before it was finally completed. various time constraints and technical problems stood in the way, but it turned out fabulously.
nadia envisioned a large portfolio to hold her writing, with lots of red and black in various forms and textures. the cover was completed first. i cut out a piece from the center and divided it into little strips, which i covered with various papers used in the book, then covered the rest of the cover in black book cloth and glued it all together in an N shape, reinforcing the back of the cover so it wouldnt fall in.
the five inside pages are thin, hinged binder's board covered in gray pastel paper and black book cloth. the first three have frames, the last two have pocket folders.
the whole thing was put together by drilling holes along the hinged edge and putting aluminum screw posts in.
